When something goes wrong, nobody wants to dig through emails for a vaccine record or try to remember the emergency vet number. This binder gives every pet in your home one profile, one set of contacts, and one plan, written down before you need it.

Official preparedness lists from the CDC, ASPCA, and Ready.gov all tell pet owners to keep copies of pet records and recent photos with their emergency supplies. This binder is the paperwork half of that kit, ready to fill in.

Who it is for

  • Dog and cat owners, including multi-pet homes
  • Families in hurricane, tornado, wildfire, or flood areas
  • Anyone who leaves pets with a sitter, neighbor, or relative
  • Pet owners who want vet records and medications in one place

What's inside

  • Pet emergency profiles. One page per pet with photo box, description, microchip number, medical notes, and emergency contacts.
  • Emergency vet visit pages. A start-here page for urgent vet trips, plus your vet, the nearest 24-hour clinic, and pet insurance details.
  • Daily care and routine. Feeding, walks, litter, and habits written down so a helper can keep things normal.
  • Medication and treatment log. What each pet takes, when, and how, with a log to record doses.
  • Medical records and contacts. Vaccines, visits, and the phone numbers you would need in a hurry.
  • Go-bag and evacuation plan. A supply checklist, where you would go, and who would help if you had to leave fast.
  • Caregiver and lost pet pages. Instructions for a temporary caregiver and an action plan if a pet goes missing.

Also included in the Pet Parent Bundle: Emergency Binder + Sitter Pack ($9.99).

How to use it

  1. Print the binder and fill in one pet profile per animal.
  2. Add your vet, the closest 24-hour emergency clinic, and a backup caregiver.
  3. Pack the go-bag from the checklist and keep the binder near it.
  4. Review it twice a year and after any vet visit or move.

What it is not

  • Not veterinary advice or a treatment plan. Your veterinarian sets your pet's care.
  • Not a legal document such as a pet trust.

Frequently asked questions

What goes in a pet emergency binder?

A pet emergency binder holds the paperwork you would need in a crisis: a profile and recent photo of each pet, microchip number, vaccine and medical records, medications, your vet and nearest 24-hour emergency clinic, a backup caregiver, an evacuation plan, and lost pet steps. Our binder has a page for each of these.

How is this different from the Pet Sitter Handoff Pack?

The Pet Emergency Binder is your long-term record and disaster plan: profiles, medical history, insurance, evacuation, and lost pet steps. The Pet Sitter Handoff Pack is a short, fridge-ready set of daily instructions for whoever watches your pets while you are away. Many families use both, which is why we sell them as a bundle.

See the Pet Parent Bundle

Does it work for more than one pet?

Yes. The binder is built for multi-pet homes. Fill in one profile page per animal, and print extra copies of any page you need more of, such as the profile or the medication log. Dogs and cats are the main focus, but the pages work for most household pets with simple changes.

Is the Pet Emergency Binder a physical product?

No. The Pet Emergency Binder is a digital PDF download (21 pages, US Letter size). Nothing is shipped to you. After you buy on Etsy, the file is ready right away under You, then Purchases, on Etsy.com. You print it at home or at a copy shop and keep it in a binder or folder.

Can I type into the PDF or do I fill it in by hand?

You fill it in by hand. Our kits are print-and-write PDFs with large, roomy lines, not fillable forms. Many families find that writing by hand at the kitchen table is faster and easier to share. Print in color or black and white, at 100% (Actual Size) on US Letter paper.

How do I download my file after buying on Etsy?

Sign in on Etsy.com in a web browser, open You, then Purchases, and choose Download Files next to your order. A computer browser is usually easiest because the Etsy app does not always open PDFs. If anything will not open, message us on Etsy and we will help you get it.

Can I print more than one copy for my family?

Yes. You can print as many copies as your own household needs, for example a spare for the fridge, the car, or a family member who helps out. The file is for personal and family use, so please do not resell it, share it publicly, or hand out copies to other households.

Please note: This printable is an organizational and educational tool only. It is not veterinary, medical, or legal advice. Always follow your own veterinarian. Phone numbers and official guidance can change, so confirm them on the official sites linked here.
